There are numerous regulations (and obligations) at both the federal and state levels that impact the governance, ownership, management, operation, planning, and development of an airport. Once federal and state grant funds have been utilized for airport studies and plans, land acquisition, airfield infrastructure development, airport lighting and signage, navigation aids, or safety area improvements, FAA Airport Sponsor Assurances and other federal and state regulations are imposed and compliance must be maintained for specific timeframes (depending on the purposed of the grant).
